ATLANTIC CITY- The Atlantic City Surf defeated the visiting Nashua Pride by a score of 9-7 Friday night at Bernie Robbins Stadium in front of 4123. The Surf improve to (15-9) while the Pride fall beneath .500 to (12-13).
In the eighth inning is where the Surf piled on the bulk of their runs. The bases were juiced with Rob Fischer, Wally Rosa, and David Keesee when Josh Renick singled off of third baseman, Jermy Acey's glove for the first run of the inning. Anthony Granato hustled down the first base line to beat out a potential double play to score Rosa to tie the score at six. Keesee scored on first baseman Chris Colabello's era. Ed Montague and Grananto scored on a dropped fly ball to left field from Wil Quintana's bat.
Granato led the way for Atlantic City going 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored.
Reliever Jamie Tricoglou picks up his fourth win on the year. Matt Pike picked up his league leading 19th save of the season. Steve Palazzolo took the loss dropping his record to 6-3 on the year.
Nashua doubled a season high seven times Friday night.
Game two of the series is Saturday night at Bernie Robbins Stadium, first pitch 7:05 PM. Monte Mansfield (5-6) is set to pitch against Akira Okamoto (5-2).
