Atlantic City Surf News Release

Atlantic City, N.J. - J.C. Huguet twirled a complete-game two-hitter as the Atlantic City Surf defeated the Nashua Pride, 5-0, in a Can-Am League affair on Monday evening at Bernie Robbins Stadium.

In a game that took just two hours and 12 minutes to complete, Huguet retired the first ten batters he faced, struck out five and walked just one to improve his record to 4-0. Atlantic City (15-15) tallied a run in the fourth on DH Clyde Williams' RBI double, three more in the sixth via RBI singles from Williams, C William Plaza and 1B Eddie Kim, and another in the seventh on LF Joe Burke's RBI single.

Williams finished the evening 3-for-3, while Plaza, Burke and 2B Brad Thoma had two hits apiece. Nashua's two hits, both singles, came from CF Vinny Pennell and RF Jeremy Pickrel.

German Melendez (1-2) picked up the loss for Nashua (14-15), allowing five runs on nine hits in six innings of work, striking out three.

The victory ended Atlantic City's three-game losing streak, the team's first of more than two games this season.

The two teams return to action Tuesday evening at 7:05 p.m., as Adam Cox (2-2) will be on the hill for the Surf, opposing the Pride's Hideki Nagasaka (4-1).
