ATLANTIC CITY- The Brockton Rox defeated the Atlantic City Surf 3-1 in front of 3110 at camp day at Bernie Robbins Stadium.
Fredy De La Cruz led the Rox to their victory going 3 for 3 and driving in two runs while scoring a run. On the defensive side Rox pitcher Rolando Viera pitched six innings while allowing one run, two hits, five strikeouts and walked six.
Brockton's Matt Reilly pitched two strong innings allowing one hit and striking out two and holding the surf scoreless. Amad Stephens came in to close his first game of the season earning the save. Stephens struck out one batter and got two others to ground out.
Atlantic City's Ben Thurmond falls to (6-4). Thurmond pitched six and two thirds innings allowing six hits, three runs, striking out five and walked two batters.
The finale of the series will be at Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City at 7:05 PM July 19, 2007. Coogie Freedman (2-0) will face off against Bryan Morse (1-2).
