Harlingen, TX - Harlingen WhiteWings (18-45) starter Alex Gett (3-7) retired the first ten hitters he faced while striking out six to beat the San Angelo Colts (36-25) 10-4 tonight at Foster Field.

Gett struck out eight over all while scattering seven hits and five walks in eight and two-thirds innings to help the WhiteWings snap a ten-game losing streak.

Albert Gonzalez drew a one-out walk in the fourth, the Colts' first base runner, but Jose Torres followed by lining into a double play.

In the fifth, Andres Rodriguez led off with a shallow fly ball into foul territory down the right field line. Ryan Fox raced in and made a diving catch to keep the no-hitter intact. The league's leading hitter, Aaron Cone, followed with a double just over the reach of the leaping Anthony Slagle to break it up.

The WhiteWings got to Frank James Jr. (3-5) the second time through the order. In the fourth, David Cardona and Fox hit one-out singles. With two outs, Trey Hendricks, Brian Nichols and Slagle hit consecutive RBI-singles to make it 3-0.

With one out in the sixth, Nichols and Slagle drew back-to-back walks. One out later, Kevin Griffin singled to load the bases, and Amadeo Zazueta followed with an RBI-single to make it 4-0.

The Colts got one in the seventh when Torres doubled and Rodriguez hit an RBI-single to make it 4-1.

The WhiteWings put the game out of reach in the ninth by scoring six runs (four earned) and sending 11 batters to the plate against Matt Greanead. David Fowler led of with an eight-pitch walk. One out later, Zazueta singled and Cardona hit an RBI-single. With two outs, Joel Gonzalez hit an RBI-double, Hendricks walked, Nichols reached on an infield single and Slagle drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run. Fowler followed with a fly ball into right-center field that hit off Bryan Frichter's glove, allowing Hendricks and Nichols to score to make it 10-1.

The Colts completed the scoring in the bottom of the inning. Gonzalez led off with a single and Torres followed with a single. One out later, Cone walked. Jason Landreth followed with a sacrifice fly. Frichter drew an eight-pitch walk and Wyn Diggs hit an RBI-single to knock out Gett. Justin Staatz came in and walked pinch-hitter Jack Chapman to force in a run, but John Anderson grounded into a fielder's choice to end the game.

The WhiteWings and Colts plate game two of this six-game series tomorrow night at 7:05. Right-hander Todd Lutz (2-4) will face left-hander Alex Merricks (1-0).
