Hagerstown Suns News Release

COLUMBUS, GA -The Hagerstown Suns (21-35) lost their fifth straight game after getting shut out 6-0 by the Columbus Catfish (31-21) on Sunday.

A lead-off single in the bottom of the first inning off Suns starter Osvaldo Rodriguez was followed by a passed ball and two ground outs, but was enough to give the Catfish a 1-0 lead.

Rodriguez (0-1) was making his Suns debut in the game and settled down after the first and allowed just one more run on a solo home run in the sixth off the bat of Stephen Vogt. The righthander struck out seven and walked just one, though he took the loss for Hagerstown.

Jamie Lehman replaced Rodriguez after the sixth inning, and after allowing a run on two doubles in the seventh, Quinn Stewart hit a three-run home run to extend the lead to 6-0 in the eighth.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Suns had six hits comprised of five singles and a double by Jose Lozada. Blake Stouffer had two hits, the only Suns hitter with more than one.

Columbus starter Brian Flores (8-6) pitched very well, allowing just four hits over six and one third innings of work to earn the win. Kevin Boggan relieved Flores in the seventh, and tossed the final two and two thirds innings to earn his fifth save of the season.

The Suns and Catfish will play the finale of their four game series on Monday, August 18th at 7:00 P.M. Following the game the Suns will return to Hagerstown to begin a five game series with the Delmarva Shorebirds starting at 7:05 P.M. on Wednesday, August 20th.
