Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, S.C. - Following Sunday's game at Fluor Field, a total of 997,026 fans have crossed through the turnstiles and the Drive are prepared to welcome their 1,000,000th fan during Monday night's game.
Drive Co-Owner and President, Craig Brown noted, "It is extremely gratifying to see how people across the Upstate have embraced the Drive and the downtown baseball experience at Fluor Field." Brown added, "Reaching this million fan milestone in our 3rd record breaking season is a testimony to our community's appetite for family fun, and its commitment to make "quality of life" a priority."
During each of the Drive's games over the current homestand, one lucky fan has been selected as a finalist to be the Honorary Millionth Fan. The seven lucky finalists through Sunday's game are Susan Cravens of Greenville, J.L. Nix of Easley, Clayton Angermeier of Greer, Ashleigh Page of Charlotte, Michael McMullen of Greenville, Bernard Rambert of Easley, and Donna Squier of Greenwood.
On Monday, all seven finalists will return to Fluor Field and will join Drive Co-Owner/President Craig Brown and General Manager Mike deMaine, plus Greenville City officials in the West End Suite as special guests of the Drive. One additional finalist will be selected in the first inning of Monday's game, with all eight then participating in on-field games and activities in an attempt to win over the crowd, who will select the Honorary Millionth Fan by their votes during the game.
The Honorary Millionth Fan will receive a trip for four to Boston with airfare and hotel included and tickets to a Red Sox game during the 2009 season. In addition, the prize package will include Drive season tickets for 2009, generous gifts from Drive corporate partners, the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a future Drive game, the opportunity to appear in an upcoming Drive advertisement, and a Drive gift package which will include a customized jersey and Drive merchandise.
Each Millionth Fan runner up candidate will receive tickets to the Drive's 2009 Opening Day, plus a $50 Drive gift card.
In addition, the first 3,000 fans to enter Fluor Field on Monday will receive a free "1,000,000 Strong" Greenville Drive t-shirt.
"This is an exciting milestone, which underscores the strength of the partnership the Drive has forged with our fans, our sponsors, the City of Greenville and the entire Upstate Community", added Drive General Manager, Mike deMaine. "Tracking, and identifying the honorary 1,000,000th fan has been a fun and exciting experience and we look forward to Monday's game"
