Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Hickory, NC ? The Intimidators (29-24) used five home runs from five different players in a 14-6 rout of the Hickory Crawdads (16-40). The win is the sixth straight for Kannapolis after taking the final three games in Asheville and the first three in Hickory.

Brent Morel (solo shot in the 2nd), Matt Inouye (two-run blast in the 4th), Mark Fleisher (three-run bomb in the 4th), Gordon Beckham (three-run jack in the 5th) and Jim Gallagher (solo homer in the 6th) provided the offensive spark. The previous season-high was three home runs in a game for the I?s done four times this year. The last was on the 11th of this month in Asheville.

Beckham?s home run was the first of his professional career. The first round pick out of Georgia in 2008 went 3-for-3 with walk. Gallagher?s rip was his third in the past two games. The outfielder went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.

The Intimidators entered this series without back to back games of double digit runs. Now, Kannapolis has three straight with ten or more runs. The I?s have outscored the Crawdads 35-9 in the series.

Starter Charlie Shirek (5-6) earned the win with six innings of work. Shirek surrendered four runs (three earned) on seven hits.

The Intimidators wrap up the eight-game roadtrip tomorrow night with the final contest in Hickory. The first pitch tomorrow in Hickory is set for 7:00pm. Coverage starts at intimidatorsbaseball.com with Dan Bumpus at 6:45pm.

The Intimidators are back at home Tuesday night to face the first-place Augusta GreenJackets. It?s the start of the final homestand of the season. For tickets call 704-932-FANS or order online to intimidatorsbaseball.com.
