SUNS RETURN AND DECLARE OPEN SEASON ON SHOREBIRDS

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns kick-off a seven game homestand on Friday, April 27th against the Delmarva Shorebirds, marking the start of a 19 day stretch in which the Suns will play 15 home games.

Friday's game marks the first game of 2007 against in-state rivals the Delmarva Shorebirds, the affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The Suns will be celebrating the "First Day of Shorebird Hunting Season," The Suns will offer a pre-game shorebird hunting training session that will include teaching fans shorebird calls and tracking techniques. Fans are encouraged to wear hunting apparel and shorebird scent. As part of the festivities Suns General Manager Will Smith has challenged Shorebird General Manager Chris Bitters to a contest. If the Suns win the three game series the Shorebirds will pay to have a sign put up at Municipal Stadium declaring that the Delmarva Shorebirds are on the endangered species list thanks to the Suns. If the Shorebirds win the Suns will change their mascot's name from Woolie to Shorebird Wannabe for every game the Suns play the Shorebirds the rest of the season. First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m.

Saturday, April 28th is a Give-A-Way Sat-A-Day at Municipal Stadium. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a 2007 Suns team photo. During Saturday's game the Suns will be wearing their new alternate red, white and blue jerseys for the first time this season. Each Saturday the Suns will wear the patriotic jerseys, presented by SkilTech Web Design and Hosting and WJAL TV68. Fans will also have the opportunity to broadcast with the Suns radio team live from the Duffy's Beer Garden on Cool 95.9fm. Game time is 6:35 p.m.

Sunday, April, 29th is the third and final game of the series with the Delmarva Shorebirds and another Family Sunday, presented by the Herald-Mail. Families can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four popcorns, a $60 value, for only $30 with the Herald-Mail coupon printed in Saturday and Sunday's paper. At approximately 1:00 p.m. Suns Story Time will occur on the field as Suns players read to children ages one to seven, thanks to the Washington County Arts Council. Also before the game, different Suns players will be available in the Hagerstown Trust Plaza to sign FREE photos. After the game, all children 12 and under are invited to run the bases at Municipal Stadium, presented by Antietam Cable Advertising and Mini Melts Ice Cream. First pitch is at 1:35 p.m.

On Monday, April 30th the West Virginia Power come to town for a four game series. Monday is this year's first Feed Your Face Monday. Ryan's Steakhouse, Efrain's Taqueria, Waffle House and 43 South will all be on hand to provide all-you-can-eat FREE food to fans. The Suns normal concessions fare is also free throughout the game. The feeding frenzy begins at 5:35 p.m., first pitch is at 6:35 p.m. and tickets are $10 for general admission or $13 for VIP.

Tuesday, May 1st will be the first of three Education Days hosted by the Suns. Every Tuesday is a Senior Day at Municipal Stadium, presented by Cool 95.9fm. Seniors 60 and over can get a ticket to the game for just $2. Game time is 10:35 a.m.

The Suns and the Power will play again on Wednesday, May 2nd, as Municipal Stadium hosts Happy Smiles Suns Day. Suns General Manager Will Smith is going to write permission slips for anyone who wants an excused absence to miss work or school in order to attend the game. The Suns will host a pre-game information lecture on tobacco use as part of the season-long Why Dinosaurs Don't Smoke Program. Also every Wednesday is a Kids Eat Free Wednesday presented by Susquehanna Bank and Lite 97.5fm. Any child buying a full-price General Admission ticket at the ticket window will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, popcorn, drink and candy bar. Youth tickets are just $5. The game was originally schedule for 12:05 p.m. but has been changed to 1:05 p.m.

Thursday, May 3rd is a Thirsty Thursday, presented by Classic Rock 101.5fm. Domestic drafts are just $1.25 all night. Thursday also marks another Ladies Night at Municipal Stadium. Ladies can register at the game to win many great prizes. Game time is 6:35 p.m.

On Friday, May 4th the Suns begin a short road trip versus Delmarva, but baseball will still be played at Municipal Stadium that night. The 4th Annual Diamond Classic is at Municipal Stadium on Friday, May 4th as Hagerstown South High will host Hagerstown North High in varsity baseball. The winner will keep the ceremonial "The Glove" trophy in their trophy case until next season.
