Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees have announced that Charleston RiverDogs right-handed pitcher Eric Hacker has been called up to the Class-A advanced Tampa Yankees as of April 26.

Hacker, a 2005 South Atlantic League All-Star, made his last start and appearance for the RiverDogs on April 21 against the Savannah Sand Gnats. He notched his third win of the season after pitching six shutout innings with two strikeouts.

The 24-year-old native of Duncanville, TX leaves Charleston with a 3-1 record and a 3.13 ERA after making four starts in 2007. He compiled a record of 5-2 with the RiverDogs in '05 before suffering a right shoulder injury that forced him to sit the entire 2006 season.

In 14 career starts with the RiverDogs, Hacker pitched 85 innings with a 2.01 ERA, surrendering just 71 hits and 16 walks while striking out 51.

In his professional career, which also includes time in the Gulf Coast League and New York-Penn League, Hacker has a win-loss record of 11-5, having thrown 126 innings with a 2.07 ERA.

The Yankees have not yet decided which player will fill Charleston's vacated roster spot.
