Hagerstown Suns News Release

The Hagerstown Suns, together with the Each One, Teach One program, are announcing a FREE baseball clinic at Wheaton Park this Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 10:00AM. Suns players Matt Miramontes, Chuck Smith, and Tim Worthington will be on hand to lend their skills as instructors for the clinic. All youth ages 6 to 13 are invited to attend.

Each One, Teach One is a non-profit organization in conjunction with the Bethel Gardens community outreach center. Brian Robinson is the program's director. The program offers community programs to inner-city youths and at-risk kids.

"We're thrilled to be hosting the clinic at Wheaton Park," said Suns General Manager Kurt Landes. "I think it's important for our players to give back to the community, especially with kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity to attend games or otherwise interact with our team."

There is no cost for the clinic and all Washington County youth are encouraged to attend. Refreshments and ballpark fare will be provided by Big Bats Café of Hagerstown as well as the Suns and Each One, Teach One.

This clinic is made possible through the Cigarette Restitution Fund program through the Washington County Health Department. The free baseball clinic will be another part of the Hagerstown Suns season-long Strike Out Tobacco campaign that also included Strike Out Tobacco Day held on April 10th.

The Hagerstown Suns are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets. For more information, or to purchase Suns game tickets or sponsorships, contact the Suns at 301.791.6266 or at info@hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
