Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Suns (9-8, 43-41) lost one game and had another suspended against the Chattanooga Lookouts on Sunday, as rain continued to affect the teams' series at AT&T Field in Chattanooga.
In the continuation of a contest from Friday night, the Suns fell by a final score of 2-1, scoring their only run on Taylor Krick's solo homer. The Suns and Lookouts began play on Sunday in the bottom half of the fourth inning with Chattanooga ahead 1-0. Each team scored a run throughout the rest of the afternoon, and the Lookouts came away with the victory.
Adam Conley (7-4), who began the afternoon on the mound for the Suns, picked up the loss, while Chattanooga's Garrett Gould (1-0) picked up the victory in his first appearance for the Lookouts in 2013.
Game two began shortly afterward, with Anthony DeSclafani (2-0, 4.08) on the mound for Jacksonville, opposed by Chattanooga's Andres Santiago (3-6, 5.00). Each team had trouble hitting the opposing pitcher, and the game remained scoreless into the bottom if the fourth.
The Suns squandered their best scoring opportunity when Jake Marisnick flied out to right field with two on and two outs in the top half of the fourth, stranding both runners in a scoreless tie.
When rains became heavier in the bottom of the fourth, umpires called for the tarp, and play was officially suspended a short time later.
The Suns and Lookouts will resume Sunday's second contest on Monday beginning at 5:15 p.m. ET, with the contest still lasting seven innings of regulation play. The two teams will then play a second contest, also lasting seven innings, following game one's conclusion.
Suns fans can listen to Monday's games on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or through jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET with the UF Health Suns Pre-Game Show.
