Suns Dominate Drive 9-4

The Hagerstown Suns (27-22) came out on top against the Greenville Drive (24-26) 9-4 in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday night.

In the bottom of the second, Hagerstown's Justin Bloxom scored on a ground out by J.P Ramirez.

Greenville answered back by Michael Almanzar's solo homerun on a line drive to center field in the top of the fourth.

The Suns got a big lead bottom of the fourth after Tom Ebert (2-1) came on for the Drive. Both Steven Souza and Justin Bloxom scored on a double to left field by Destin Hood. The momentum kept on going after a wild pitch by Tom Ebert leading Hood to score a run. Not long after did Eury Perez single on a ground ball scoring in Sandy Leon. Hagerstown did not stop, Jeff Kobernus reached on a fielding error by shortstop Derek Gibson causing Eury Perez to score.

In the bottom of the fifth, J.P. Higley singled on a fly ball to center leading Hood to score. Suns kept on going with a Soriano single, Destin Hood scored.

Greenville scored one run in each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Hagerstown held on for the victory 9-4.

Hagerstown's Mitchell Clegg (6-0) came out with the win after pitching six innings only allowing three runs. Paul Applebee pitched the seventh allowing one run. Dean Weaver came in during the eighth and finished the game not giving up a run.

Drive starter Derek Britton got a no decision after pitching three innings with one run charged. Greenville's Tom Ebert got the loss of the evening after allowing six runs in the fourth inning.

The Suns and the Drive will play game three of the series on Sunday at 7:05 p.m. Gates to Municipal Stadium open at 6:00 p.m.
