Suns Clinch Series with Saturday Win

Jacksonville, Fla. - Aaron Thompson dealt six strong innings while five different hitters drove in runs leading the Jacksonville Suns (34-35) to a 6-2 victory over the Mobile BayBears (37-32) in front of 5,231 Satur day night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Thompson (3-8) allowed a solo homerun and three other hits with two walks and two strikeouts over six innings in the winning decision for the Suns. Mobile starter Barry Enright (5-5) fell in the loss, charged with six runs, five earned, on eight hits over five and one-thirds innings.
The teams traded runs in the second inning. Mobile's Sean Coughlin led off the top of the inning with his fifth homerun, while Jacksonville's Kevin Randel drove in a run in the bottom of the frame with a sacrifice fly for a 1-1 score.
Jacksonville took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning. Scott Cousins drove in a run with a double for a 2-1 lead. Tim Torres later c ontributed a double to drive in two more runs for a 4-1 lead.
The Suns added two more runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Chris Hatcher and Chris de la Cruz for a 6-1 advantage. Mobile scored an unearned run in the eighth inning on a groundout from Pedro Ciriaco to finish the scoring at 6-2.
Suns RH Cristhian Martinez will face Mobile RH Houston Summers in the series and first half finale Sunday at 3:05 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Celebrate Father's Day at the Baseball Grounds! The first 1,000 kids will receive a fielder's glove, and fathers and children are invited to play catch on the field prior to the game.
