HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (26-41) dropped the finale of the four game series, and first half, 9-6 to the Hagerstown Suns (38-29) Sunday afternoon at Municipal Stadium The Loss pushed the season series to 8-2 in favor of the Suns.

With the game tied at 1-1, it was the Suns that jumped on BlueClaws starter Miguel Nunez and took the lead for good. The righty walked the leadoff man Estarlin Martinez and with one out, Pedro Severino broke the tie with an RBI triple to center.

Wilmer Difo followed with a single that scored Severino and upped the Hagerstown lead to 3-1. Tony Renda hit a single that moved Difo to third and Roman Quinn threw it away, which allowed the runner to score and Khayyan Norfork capped off the scoring with an RBI double that upped the lead to 5-1.

The BlueClaws tried to bounce back and picked up a single run in the fifth and a pair in the sixth. Zach Taylor's triple led off the fifth and Quinn pushed him home on a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2.

Art Charles singled to lead off the sixth and with two outs Chace Numata doubled him home to pull the Claws within one. Alejandro Villalobos served a triple down the right field line, scored Numata, and Lakewood was within one.

Geoff Broussard took on the Suns for the second time, in as many days, and again, did not fool the Suns lineup. With one down in the sixth, Renda doubled, and Norfork brought him home when Quinn committed his second error of the game, on a ground ball to short.

Shawn Pleffner followed with an RBI single to right that scored Norfork and Brandon Miller struck again with a solo blast to center that pushed the lead to 8-4.

The BlueClaws were again resilient in their efforts to come back and plated another pair in the seventh. With one out, Carlos Tocci doubled and Will Hudgins walked the next two hitters to load the bases in front of Willie Carmona. Carmona stayed red hot and stroked a single to center that scored two and pulled the BlueClaws to the 8-6 deficit.

Hagerstown added an insurance run in the seventh on a third Quinn error and held on for the 9-6 victory.

Nunez's (5-4) outing came to an end after the fourth inning. The BlueClaws righty allowed five runs, all earned, on six hits and three walks; he tallied a season-high 5 strikeouts in the losing effort.

Broussard was roughed up and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits; he did not walk a batter and struck out one. Luis Paulino allowed one run to cross the plate in his two innings of work.

Matt Purke pitched the first four and two-thirds innings for the Suns before he was lifted in the fifth. The righty allowed two runs, on four hits and two walks; he added two strikeouts in his fourth start of the season.

Christian Meza (1-0) earned the win with an inning and one-third of relief. Meza allowed two runs on four hits as well, and struck out a pair. Robert Benincasa pitched the ninth and locked down his 10th save of the season.

Deborah Heart and Lung Center Player of the Game: Willie Carmona (LWD): 2-4, 2RBI
