
Gnats Win Sixth Straight 8-0 to Finish First Half

Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats finished the first half with their sixth straight win, an 8-0 victory over the Greenville Drive Sunday afternoon at Historic Grayson Stadium. The six-game winning streak equals the Gnats' best of 2013.
The Gnats (43-26) began the game's scoring the bottom of the fourth inning.
DH Gregory Pron doubled into the right field corner to drive home two.
On the hill, Gabriel Ynoa kept the Drive (22-47) off the scoreboard for five innings to pick up his SAL-leading eighth win of the year. Ynoa struck out six and did not walk a batter while yielding three hits, all singles.
The Gnats added four runs in the seventh to make the score 6-0, capped by RF Eudy Pina's two-run homerun to leftfield.
Two more runs in the bottom of the eighth made the score 8-0.
1B Jayce Boyd finished the day 2-for-2 with an RBI and three walks. In the four games against the Greenville Drive, he was 11-for-13 with six walks, a triple and two homeruns. He extended his hitting streak to eight straight games and his overall season line to .361/.441/.494 (AVG/OBP/SLG).
Savannah relievers Marcos Camarena and Hunter Carnevale combined on four innings of shutout relief to wrap up the win.
The Gnats will take three days off for the SAL All-Star Break, returning to action on Thursday, June 20 at Kannapolis. The Gnats' next home game is Thursday, June 27 against the Rome Braves on Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by Budweiser, Connect Savannah, I-95 and E-93.
