Huntsville, Ala. - Graham Taylor, Kasey Olenberger and Matt Peterson combined for a three-hit shutout while Kevin Randel knocked in a second inning run to lead the Jacksonville Suns (78-58, 43-23) to a 1-0 victory over the Huntsv ille Stars (63-71, 25-40) in front of 782 Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium.

Taylor (8-7) dealt seven scoreless innings, while scattering three hits and one walk with four strikeouts in the victory. Nick Green (1-6) fell in the tough-luck loss, giving up one run and four hits over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Matt Peterson (34) saved the game with a perfect ninth inning and is now two saves away from tying the Southern League record of 36, last achieved by Joe Valentine of Birmingham in 2002.

Jacksonville scored the only run of the game in the second inning against Green. Scott Cousins tripled with one out before a Kevin Randel double knocked him in for a 1-0 score.

Hunts ville's best scoring opportunity came in the third inning. Mike Brownstein led off with a double and was sacrificed to third base. Drew Anderson then struck out before a Shane Justis line out to second base ended the inning. Huntsville did not move a runner past first base the remainder of the night.

Jacksonville RH Nic Ungs will face Huntsville RH Brandon Kintzler in game two of the series Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET. Live radio coverage will be available on WFXJ-AM 930 and online at jaxsuns.com.
