Jacksonville, Fla. - Brandon Tripp and Tim Torres each knocked in a pair of runs while three pitchers combined on the second shutout of the season leading the Jacksonville Suns (9-6) past the Carolina Mudcats (6-10) 6-0 in front of 7,037 Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Suns starter Elih Villanueva (1-1) picked up the winning decision, pitching six and two-thirds scoreless innings with seven hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Dan Jennings (1.1 innings) and A.J. Battisto (1 inning) held off Carolina for the remainder of the night. Mudcats starter Matt Klinker (1-2) fell in the losing decision, giving up two runs, one earned, and eight hits over five and two-thirds innings.

Jacksonville opened the scoring in the fourth inning when Tim Torres knocked in Mark Saccomanno with a two-out single to right field for a 1-0 lead.

The Suns benefitted from a two-out error in the sixth inning. Matt Dominguez and Tim Torres recorded back-to-back two-out singles. Chris Hatcher next rolled a ground ball to third baseman Jake Kahaulelio, whose throw across pulled the first baseman off the bag to allow Dominguez to score for a 2-0 lead.

Jacksonville scored four insurance runs in the seventh inning against the Carolina bullpen. Brandon Tripp knocked in a pair of runs with a two-out double followed by a Matt Dominguez RBI triple and a Tim Torres RBI single for a 6-0 final.
