Suns Beat Wahoos 4-3 In Series Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns earned a 4-3 win in Pensacola to take four of the five games against the Blue Wahoos.

Jacksonville took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a ground out by Kyle Jensen and a throwing error. Both Paul Gran and Chris Gutierrez came in to score. This season the Suns are now 8-1 when scoring the game's first run. Pensacola scored a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. Didi Gregorius led off with a single and was driven in by Henry Rodriguez, who lifted a sacrifice fly to right.

The Blue Wahoos tied the game 2-2 in the second when Yordanys Perez doubled to drive in Brodie Greene. Yordanys was thrown out at third trying to stretch the double into a triple.

Kyle Skipworth hit a solo home run in the third to make the score 3-2, and Ryan Patterson hit a solo home run in the fourth and the Suns built a 4-2 lead. Skipworth now has a five game hitting streak. It was his third homer of the season. Patterson now has two home runs this year.

The Wahoos scored one more run in the fourth to make it 4-3, and would threaten in the ninth but came away empty. Omar Poveda earned his second win of the season. He pitched five innings, allowing eight hits and three runs. A.J. Ramos pitched the ninth for his first save of the year. He's given up just one hit to the 26 batters that he has faced this season.
