Mobile BayBears News Release
The Mobile BayBears dropped the series finale against the Montgomery Biscuits Thursday night, falling 6-2 at Riverwalk Stadium. Mobile suffered its first series loss of 2012 with Thursday night's defeat. The Biscuits broke a 2-2 tie, scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and held the BayBears scoreless in the ninth to cap the game and claim the win.
Mobile struck first with a run in the first inning as Raoul Torrez crossed the plate off a Brent Clevlen RBI single to center. The BayBears added another run in the second inning when Alfredo Marte doubled and scored from third on a wild pitch. The Biscuits answered with a run of their own in second inning and then tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the fourth inning.
The game was tied 2-2 going to the ninth when the Biscuits plated four runs against Matt Gorgen before he was pulled with just one out in the inning. Gorgen suffered his first loss of the season. BayBear starting left-hander Patrick Corbin threw seven quality innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and struck out nine before settling for a no-decision.
