Hagerstown Suns News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Valerio Heredia scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the tenth inning and gave the Hagerstown Suns (26-42) the 3-2 extra inning victory over the Lake County Captains (33-35) on Saturday night.

The Suns offense was able to string together two base hits and a walk in their half of the tenth inning before the passed ball by Captains catcher Adam Davis.

The starters for both teams pitched well as Tom Milone took the nod for the Suns and tossed six and a third innings and only allowed one run on six hits.

Captains' starter Chris Archer threw six innings and allowed two runs on three hits while striking out seven.

The Suns took a 2-0 lead in the third after a RBI ground out by Mark Gildea scored Jake Rogers and a solo blast by Jose Lozada. The long ball was the third home run for Lozada.

Lake County stormed back in the seventh with two runs to tie the game. Suns reliever Ryan Buchter (2-2) came on in relief after a single by Dustin Realini that ended Milone's night. Matt Brown then doubled to put runners at second and third. Both of them scored on an RBI single by Ron Rivas and a sacrifice fly by Juan Valdes.

Buchter and Lake County reliever John Gaub both pitched well to bring the game to extra innings before the Suns picked up the victory off of Captains pitcher Gary Campfield (7-4).

The Suns will take on Lake County in game two of the three game series at Municipal Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
