Hagerstown Suns News Release
HAGERSTOWN, MD -- Friday night's action at Municipal Stadium was postponed due to field conditions deemed unplayable by the umpiring crew -- the third disruption in the first three nights of the series between the Hagerstown Suns and the Lake County Captains.
In the series opener on Wednesday night, the Suns and Captains were suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning due to heavy rains, with the score tied, 1-1. That conclusion of that game was set to be played prior to Thursday night's contest, but both games were postponed, just as they were again on Friday night.
The suspended game will now be completed prior to Saturday night's regularly scheduled game, with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. in anticipation of a 5:35 p.m. start. After the suspended game is concluded, there will be a break of approximately half an hour before the Suns play a seven-inning affair to finish the series. The Captains will leave Hagerstown with just two games completed out of what was set to be a four-game series.
Saturday's Pitching Pink promotion will take place throughout both games of the doubleheader, with players wearing their pink jerseys all night long and the charity auction benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley lasting through both contests. Suns players and team mascot Woolie will be at The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille on Saturday at noon signing autographs and showcasing the limited-edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during Saturday's game.
Saturday will also be Matt Cain Hall of Fame Night, and a bronzed likeness of the former Hagerstown star and current San Francisco Giants pitcher will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance, courtesy of NBC25. In conjunction with the Hall of Fame promotion, it will be an All-You-Can-Eat Night at Municipal Stadium. The All-You-Can-Eat meal will be served to Hall of Fame ticket-holders from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
