Arizona Sundogs News Release

HIDALGO, TX - Levente Szuper's brilliance in net for the Arizona Sundogs wasn't enough as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees held on for a 3-1 win on Saturday night at State Farm Arena.

David Marshall scored an empty-net goal in the game's final second for the Bees to push the game out of reach.

Szuper posted 48 saves in net for the Sundogs (2-5-3), including 22 in the first period alone, holding the Bees to only a 1-0 advantage after the opening frame.

Aaron Lee scored the Bee's first period goal on a loose puck in the goal crease.

Rio Grande Valley extended their lead to 2-0 as Lee struck again after driving the net from the right circle 4:25 into the second period. Corey Toy brought the Sundogs back to within one on a 2-on-1 rush for his first career goal. Luke Erickson tallied the assist.

Craig Macdonald's point streak (five games) and goal streak (three games) both came to an end in the Sundogs loss.

Wylie Rogers took the win in net for the Bees, stopping 33 shots in his first appearance of the season since signing with team earlier in the week.

Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Sundogs return home this week for three straight games against the Texas Brahmas starting on Thursday night at Tim's Toyota Center. Game time is set for 7:05 PM MST.
