Blaze Fall at Texas
November 12, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, traded goals early but fell 5-2 to the Texas Brahmas on Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas.
The Brahmas scored first and quickly, just 2:12 into the game, when Brendon Hodge got to a puck first at the top of the crease after a save and tapped it in for his third goal of the season. The Blaze converted a power play to tie the game at 7:23 of the opening period on a rebound flurry putback by Aaron Dawson for his fourth goal of the season. The Brahmas countered only 57 seconds later, when Chad Woollard scooped up a blocked shot and raced down ice to beat Blaze goalie Marco Emond on the stick side to give Texas a 2-1 at the first intermission.
Texas lit the lamp in the first minute of the second period when the Blaze could not clear their zone and Phil Fox beat Emond. Zane Kalemba then took over in the Blaze net. Bloomington cut the deficit to 3-2 on Dawson's second goal of the night, a putback from the left side with 17:12 left in the middle period. Texas extended the lead back to 4-2 on Phil Fox's second goal of the night on the power play with 5:12 left in chapter two.
The Brahmas increased the lead to 5-2 with 16:25 remaining in the third period when Phil Fox earned the hat trick on a rebound goal.
Texas outshot the Blaze 43-31. The Brahmas have now won five of their last six games and improve to 5-4-0, while the Blaze fall to 1-4-2.
The Blaze continue the first road trip of the season on Tuesday night when they travel to iWireless Center in Moline to face the Quad City Mallards at 7:05 p.m. Pre-game on WJBC.com and CHL-TV is 6:45 p.m. The Blaze travel to Dayton on Thursday and back to Quad City on Friday before returning home on Saturday to host the Dayton Gems at 7:05 p.m. Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman (Rocky Blue on "Shake It Up") will meet fans and sign autographs from 6-9 p.m. on the concourse of U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
