Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (5-4-0) took the win over the Arizona Sundogs (2-5-3) on Saturday night by a 2-1 score behind two Aaron Lee goals. The Bees played strong with a season high 51 shots on goal, compared to Arizona's 35. Wylie Rogers made 34 saves in his first game back with the Bees.

Aaron Lee scored the first goal of the night at 7:43 into the first period with assists from David Marshall and Kyle Radke. Marshall drove the puck towards the net and despite an initial save from Levente Szuper Lee was able to corral the loose puck and slide it to the back of the net.

Arizona remained scoreless in the first period.

The Bees slid another one into the net at 4:25 into the second period. Aaron Lee brought the puck down the far side of the ice on a two-on-one with Jason Dixon. Lee head-pumped a pass before ripping a shot past Szuper.

Arizona had yet to score, but changed pace with a goal by Corey Toy with 1:53 remaining in the second period.

The Bee's 2-1 lead remained frozen for the majority of the third period. David Marshall secured the win when Arizona pulled their goalie in the last remaining seconds of the third with an empty net goal, his third goal in as many games.

Wylie Rogers made 34 saves for the Bees in his return to the black and yellow. Rogers last played for the Bees during the 2009-10 season.

The Killer Bees continue their homestand Tuesday night, November 15th, when the Allen Americans come to town. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 956-843-7825 or visiting killerbeehockey.com.
