Hickory Crawdads News Release

HICKORY, NC - Sunday's game between the 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads and the Lexington Legends has been canceled due to inclement weather and field conditions. The Crawdads were leading, 4-0, and the game was about to head into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Since the game did not go far enough before the rain delay, there will be no final decision. All tickets from Sunday's game may be redeemed at the Ticket Office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to a future 2011 regular season game.

The 'Dads jumped in front with three runs in the bottom of the second inning against RHP Mike Foltynewicz. With one away, CF Jake Skole sparked the offense with a base hit. One out later, RF Josh Richmond cracked the scoreless tie with a two-run homer. DH Clark Murphy further extended the frame by getting hit by a pitch, before advancing to second on a wild pitch. LF Jonathan Roof bounced an RBI single right back up the middle, bringing in mUrphy for the 3-0 lead.

Hickory continued the attack with a fourth run in the third inning. C Tomas Telis got himself on with a one-out single, before Skole ripped an RBI double one out later to bring in Telis and make it 4-0.

After a fourth consecutive scoreless inning logged by RHP Ben Henry on the hill, the rain started and the umpires called for the tarp right before the bottom of the fourth was about to begin. After a 30-minute delay, the umpires canceled the game.
