Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - Augusta GreenJackets lefty Mike Kickham equaled his longest start of the season and provided a masterpiece in a 9-1 win against the Charleston RiverDogs on Sunday afternoon. Kickham fired seven scoreless innings and was given nine runs of support on 17 hits from the GreenJackets in their 12th win in Augusta's last 15 games.

The offense started early for Augusta as Ryan Lollis doubled in the first ahead of Adam Duvall's 22nd home run of the season, a two-run blast that gave the GreenJackets a 2-0 lead. The home run gives Duvall a share of the franchise's single-season home run record - a mark he shares with Derrick Lankford, who drilled 22 back in 1998.

Augusta added another run in the third on Ryan Scoma's RBI double to build their lead to 3-0 and pushed things out of reach in the fourth inning. The GreenJackets batted around in the fourth to score four runs and go up 7-0. Jeff Arnold opened the frame with a solo home run as part of his three-hit game, falling a triple shy of the cycle. Scoma drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to five and Devin Harris capped the inning with a two-run single to grow the lead to seven runs.

Kickham, with all the offense he'd need by that point, was masterful for the GreenJackets. He retired the first eight hitters of the game before surrendering a double with two outs in the third inning. Kickham (5-8) then retired the next ten hitters he faced in his third win in his last four starts and his fourth win in his last seven starts. In his seven scoreless innings of two-hit baseball, Kickham didn't walk anyone and struck out seven - allowing just three baserunners with the two hits and a fielding error providing the RiverDogs with men on the basepaths.

The GreenJackets added runs in the fifth on a throwing error by Charleston shortstop Jose Toussen and an RBI single by Ryan Lollis in the seventh. Charleston scored their lone run of the game in garbage time, scoring on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

Charleston starter Mike Gipson (0-2) was roughed up and didn't make it out of the fourth, allowing six runs on eight hits and a pair of walks while striking out two.

The GreenJackets finished their season series with a 13-5 record against the Charleston RiverDogs and move to within two games of first-place Savannah with the win and Savannah's loss in Greenville. Kannapolis comes to town on Monday for the first of four games with the GreenJackets. Ryan Bradley (3-1, 4.21) takes the ball for Augusta in the series opener while Brad Furnish (0-1, 8.53) will oppose. First pitch comes at 7:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 6:50, airing on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .
