Bismarck Larks News Release
The Larks dropped game two of a two-game series against the Mankato MoonDogs tonight, 11-2.
Bismarck honored former Lark, Matt Warkentin during the game as the 2nd player to be inducted into the franchise's Hall of Fame, powered by Scheels.
Mankato had two strong performances from starting pitcher TJ Martin (College of St. Scholastica) and relief pitcher Brevin Goetz (Gustavus Adolphus College). Martin went six full innings and allowed only one earned run and struck out five batters. Goetz finished the final three innings and also allowed only one earned run and gave up three hits.
Charles McAdoo (San Jose State) continued his home run streak to four games in a row after sending a two-run home run out of the park in the eighth inning. McAdoo finished the ballgame with five RBIs. Kai Roberts (University of Utah) and Ariel Armas (University of San Diego) also finished with two RBIs.
Garrett Yawn (Long Island - Brooklyn) got the start tonight for the Larks and allowed three runs on five hits. Yawn struck out six of the twenty batters he saw. Lark of the Year Justin Goldstein (Middle Tennessee St.) saw action out of the bullpen in his final appearance in Bismarck and delivered the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch of the Game at 91 mph.
Garrett Macias (CSU-San Bernardino) and Kaiden Cardoso (Minot State) finished with the only two RBIs on the evening for Bismarck.
AJ Barraza (CSU-San Bernardino) drew his 55th walk of the season, second in the Great Plains Division and third in the Northwoods League, and finished with the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game after making a "snow-cone" catch on a line drive hit in the top of the 7th inning.
The Larks are off to start the week, then hit the road on Wednesday for the final road trip of the season as they take on the 23-5 and Great Plains West second-half leaders, the Willmar Stingers.
Bismarck is back home for the final two games of the season starting on Friday, August 12, as they host the St. Cloud Rox.
