UNCASVILLE, Conn. (June 26, 2008) - In an effort to support and promote local organizations that are serving the needs of the surrounding community, the Connecticut Sun will be hosting Community Day on Sunday, June 29th as the Sun take on the Phoenix Mercury at 1 p.m.

A variety of organizations representing different areas of community involvement will be on the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse throughout the game as well as having a presence in-game. Volunteers will be on hand at every booth to educate fans as to what they can do to help, however small.

Organizations participating in Community Day include the American Red Cross-Charter Oak Chapter, the New London Area Food Pantry, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Connecticut, Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut, the Drop-In Learning Center and Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut.

In addition to information along the concourse from all organizations, Anthem will be collecting children's dental items throughout the game. All items collected will be distributed by the Connecticut Food Bank in an effort to make sure that every child in Connecticut practices correct dental health.

"The Connecticut Sun takes great pride in giving back to the community and invites all fans to join the team in helping others," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said. "By learning about different community groups, Sun fans can have the opportunity to be part of something great both on and off the court."

The Connecticut Sun is in its sixth season of play at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets for all games are available by calling 1.877.WNBA.TIX or by visiting www.connecticutsun.com.
