
Comets waive Shields

HOUSTON (June 27, 2008) - The Houston Comets today announce the waiver of Ashley Shields, the first ever junior college player selected in a WNBA Draft. She was chosen by the Comets in the first round (8th overall) of the 2007 WNBA Draft.
The 5-10 guard is native of Memphis, Tennessee and attended Southwest Tennessee Community College, finishing her junior college career with an average of 25.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists.
Over the course of 39 WNBA games in two seasons (2007, 2008), Shields posted an average of 4.8 points and 1.1 rebounds.
