Sun Honor Elementary School Students

UNCASVILLE, CT. (May 15, 2007) - The Connecticut Sun will host ice cream parties for six elementary schools in New London and New Haven counties who competed in the team's All-Star Reading Challenge.

In conjunction with the WNBA's Read to Achieve program, the All-Star Reading Challenge is a three-week reading challenge that encourages students to read daily. The challenge participants recorded the number of minutes read throughout the reading challenge in a log. The six schools with the highest school reading average receive an ice cream party from the Connecticut Sun.

The following schools will receive an ice cream party:

Nathan Hale School (New London)- Wed., May 16th at 1:30 p.m.

John Winthrop School (Bridgeport)- Thurs., May 17th at 1 p.m.

C.B. Jennings School (New London)- Fri., May 18th at 1:30 p.m.

Israel Putnam School (Meriden)- Mon., May 21st at 2 p.m.

Orchard Hills School (Milford)- Fri., May 25th at 1:30 p.m.

The Sun hosted an ice cream party for Mohegan Elementary in Montville on Monday, May 14th. Mohegan Elementary is a three-time winner of the Reading Challenge.

Blaze and Solar Power Dance Team will be on hand to serve the students.

The Sun will play their first regular season home game of the 2007 season on May 26th at 3:30 p.m., hosting the Los Angeles Sparks at Mohegan Sun Arena. Prior to the game, the Sun will hold a fanfest on top of the Riverview Garage at Mohegan Sun Resort. Former Sun player Debbie Black will be on hand to meet with fans. All fans in attendance for the home opener will receive a free 5th Anniversary t-shirt.
