October 31, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have re-signed forward Dan Sullivan. Sullivan was released by the Gladiators during training camp on October 13th and cleared ECHL waivers.
Sullivan returns to the Gladiators where he appeared in 70 games last year with Gwinnett posting 6 goals and 16 assists for 22 points. He was originally signed by Gwinnett during the summer on Tuesday, August 4th.
"I wanted to keep Sully," said Gladiators Head Coach Jeff Pyle, "but at the time with the suspension it was a numbers game. As things shook out with the roster, I was hoping we could get him back in the mix."
Sullivan was suspended for four games and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Preseason Game #15 at Florida on Oct. 10. Sullivan was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 40.5 - Abuse of Officials at 19:56 of the second period.
Before joining Gwinnett last season, Sullivan skated two seasons with the Pensacola Ice Pilots where he amassed 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points in 90 games. He had a career best 41 points during his only full season with the Augusta Lynx in 2005-06 posting 18 goals and 23 assists.
The right winger began his professional career with the Roanoke Express during the 2002-03 season before being acquired midseason by the Baton Rouge Kingfish. He played under former Gladiators Captain and then Kingfish head coach Cam Brown while with Baton Rouge. He spent part of the next two years, the 2003-04 season and the 2004-05 season with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, the Reading Royals and the Louisiana Ice Gators before being acquired by the Augusta Lynx.
Sullivan spent four seasons in the "Major Junior A" Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights, Mississauga IceDogs and Owen Sound Attack where he recorded 37 goals and 113 points in 183 career OHL games prior to turning pro.
The Gladiators continue their 7th season on Sunday, November 1st as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Checkers at 3 p.m. Catch all the play by play action on WDUN, News Talk 550. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
