York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution fell victim as the Sugar Land Skeeters secured the first victory in their franchise's history, winning 10-1 in front of another sold out crowd of 7,500 fans at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, TX on Friday night. Having split the first two games of the season, the Revs will look to get back in the win column as the series continues in the Houston suburbs on Saturday night.
Josh Pressley gave the home team their first ever lead with a two-run homer onto the picnic deck in left field in the bottom of the first inning, spotting Sugar Land a 2-0 edge.
Colt Morton provided a solo blast to left-center in the bottom of the fourth, as the Skeeters extended the lead to 3-0.
The Revs got on the board in the fifth as Travis Scott rapped an RBI double to left-center, cutting the deficit to 3-1. It was the second hit of the night for Scott, who tripled off the right field fence in the third inning, accounting for York's only hit in four innings against Sugar Land starter Ryan McKeller.
The Skeeters immediately answered, however, with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ben Harrison led off the inning with a double to right, and scored as Iggy Suarez followed with an RBI double to left-center. With two outs, Jason Botts slapped an RBI single up the middle, increasing the Skeeters' lead to 5-1.
Sugar Land put it out of reach with five runs in the bottom of the seventh, only one of which was earned, taking advantage of two York errors. Deybis Benitez scored the first run by crossing home on a wild pitch. Bubba Bell reached on a throwing error following a strikeout, and later scored on another error. Drew Locke also provided an RBI single, while Jimmy VanOstrand applied the finishing touches with a two-run double pushing the Skeeters into double-digits on the scoreboard.
Sugar Land reliever Will Startup (1-0) earned the win despite allowing York's lone run in his two innings of work.
Revs starter Ryan Feierabend (0-1) suffered the loss, charged with five runs in 4.2 innings.
The Revs will send Chris Cody to the hill on Saturday night to face Sugar Land's Bobby Livingston in a battle of southpaws at 8:05 p.m. eastern. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (search YorkRevs) with Darrell Henry on the call beginning at 7:30 p.m.
