
Bluefish Fall to Riversharks

(Bridgeport, Conn.) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (1-1) were defeated by the Camden Riversharks (1-1) by a score of 9-0 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday night.
Camden started the scoring in the fourth. With runners at second and third, Lloyd Turner reached on an error by shortstop Eddie Rogers which allowed both runners to score. After Turner advanced to second on the miscue, Felix Pie smacked a two-run homer to rightcenter giving the road squad a four-run advantage.
The Riversharks increased that lead in the seventh. After the bases were loaded on walks, Drew Macias smoked a one-out bases clearing triple to rightcenter to extend the lead to seven.
Bridgeport pitching allowed one more run to cross in each of the final two frames. Shea Harris drove in a baserunner from first with a double to leftcenter in the eighth and Macias hit his first homer of the season to right in the ninth.
Tobi Stoner (0-1) took the loss for the 'Fish as the righthander allowed four runs (no earned), on three hits and three walks while striking out five. Brad Furnish tossed one and one-third innings and gave up three runs on a hit and five walks. The southpaw struck out a couple of Riversharks batters. Kyle Zaleski, Franklyn Gracesqui and Joe Bateman completed the rest of the contest.
Sean Jarrett (1-0) earned the victory for Camden as the righthander delivered five scoreless and allowed two hits while fanning three. Jeff Farnsworth, Chris Rollins, Jason Bergmann and John Lujan combined for four shutout frames on five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts.
The Bluefish play game three of this four-game series against the Riversharks on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard is slated for 2:05 p.m. There will be a sock drive at the stadium presented by Soldier Socks. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will also receive a magnetic schedule courtesy of Printech.
