Sudbury Wolves News Release
(Greater Sudbury, ON) - The Sudbury Wolves were proud to attend the 2025 OHL Business Meetings this week, where several clubs were awarded with OHL Business Awards, acknowledging success throughout the 2024/25 OHL season.
The Wolves were awarded the OHL Most Creative Investment Award, in recognition for the efforts of The Biggest Goal Light in the World. In November of 2024, SWSE transformed Sudbury's iconic downtown Water Tower into a towering 120-foot goal light. Every time the Sudbury Wolves scored, the tower would light up in vibrant red, mimicking the familiar goal light seen in hockey arenas worldwide.
"This goal light isn't just awesome for the sake of it (when) lighting up in red when the Wolves score, but it has now become a landmark even more so than what the water tower may have been before," said Bryan Crawford, Commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League. "It lit up in Oilers colours during the Stanley Cup Finals, it will light up on special occasions (Holidays, awareness days, etc.), and really is an unbelievable example of that connection between our clubs and our communities".
The mission of SWSE has been to engage, unite and inspire Greater Sudburians through sports and entertainment. Whether it be through a Sudbury Wolves goal, a Christmas light show, or anything else that beams from the The Biggest Goal Light in the World, SWSE is proud to accept the OHL Most Creative Investment Award and proud to serve the community of Greater Sudbury.
