Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox managed just 1 run on three hits on Wednesday night in Lehigh Valley, losing to the first place Iron Pigs 4-1, and thus falling 4 games out of first place in the I.L. North Division. The lone Pawtucket run scored when Lars Anderson blasted a solo homer in the fourth inning. His tenth of the year, it came off All Star, Roy Oswalt. Oswalt is on a Major League rehab assignment for a back issue. Oswalt gave up the one hit and one run in his four innings of work. Lefty Ryan Edell kept the Sox off the board with three and two thirds innings of scoreless relief. Phillippe Aumont pitched a shutout ninth inning.
Che-Hsuan Lin and Ryan Lavarnway each had a single for the PawSox (58-47). Starter and loser Kyle Weiland, just back from Boston, labored through the second inning. Weiland allowed a homer to Delwyn Young, a single to Josh Barfield, then three walks and a hit batter. Weiland let in three runs in the inning.
The series continues on Thursday morning at 11:05 a.m. Matt Fox (6-4, 5.03) faces Scott Mathieson (0-1, 3.05).
