
G-Braves Blanked by Bulls, Moore 4-0

The Lead:
The Gwinnett Braves were shut out by the Durham Bulls by a score of 4-0 Wednesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC. LHP Matt Moore was brilliant for the Bulls on the night, striking out 13 and improving to 1-0 on the year. With the Gwinnett (57-47) loss, the Braves remain in second place in the International League South division standings, but are now 2.0 games behind the Durham Bulls (59-45) for the lead.
It Was Over When:
CF John Matulia hit his 4th HR of the year in the bottom of the third inning off of LHP Mike Minor.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: LHP Mike Minor had a solid performance, but was out dueled by Bull's starter LHP Matt Moore. Minor threw 7.0 innings, allowing 4 R, 2 ER on 5 H with 0 BB and 7 K's. He also allowed 2 HR on his way to his 5th loss of the year. RHP Jairo Asencio finished the game for the Braves, tossing an inning and allowing two hits.
At the plate: The G-Braves were limited to only four hits on the night, with only one player, SS Tyler Pastornicky, having a multi-hit game. Pastornicky finished up the game going 2-for-3 with a walk and raised his average to .441. 2B Diory Hernandez and C Wilkin Castillo had the only other hits for the G-Braves, both going 1-for-3.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: LHP Matt Moore was brilliant in only his second start at the Triple-A level. Moore went 8.0 IP allowing only 3 hits, 2 BB and tied his career high in strikeouts with 13. He earned his first Triple-A win in only his second start with the Bulls. RHP Dane De La Rosa closed out the game for the Bulls, tossing an inning allowing a hit and struck out one.
At the plate: The middle infield led the offense for the Bulls on Wednesday night. SS Reid Brignac finished the game going 3-for-4 with a R, while 2B Ray Olmedo went 2-for-4 with a R and a 2B. Matulia and LF Leslie Anderson each hit a solo HR in the game and both finished the night going 1-for-3.
On Deck:
The G-Braves continue their four game series against the Durham Bulls with game three on Thursday night in Durham, NC. The G-Braves will send out RHP Todd Redmond (7-8, 3.18) vs. LHP Alex Torres (7-6, 3.21) for the Bulls.
