Kitchener Rangers News Release
Since September, local elementary school students have been raising food and funds for the chance to meet members of the 2019-2020 Kitchener Rangers.
On Tuesday November 26th, students from Lester B. Pearson Public School and Meadowlane Public School will visit The Food Bank of Waterloo Region for a food engagement experience, warehouse tour and pizza lunch with members of the Kitchener Rangers.
Lester B. Pearson Public School took top spot, raising 2,830 pounds of food and Meadowlane Public School followed up with 980 pounds. Together, the two classrooms provided an impressive 2,977 meals for the 1 in 20 households struggling to put food on the table.
This year 24 schools participated in the annual event, raising an impressive 20,616 pounds of food and $845, providing an additional 18,641 meals to those in need. The Kitchener Rangers Classroom Challenge encourages youth to get involved, give back and make a difference in their community.
Each year, elementary classrooms across Waterloo Region are challenged to collect the most food and funds for the chance to spend a morning at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region with members of the 2019-2020 Kitchener Rangers team. Winning classrooms are selected based on the following criteria:
