Strong Pitching and Powerful Offense Secure Series Victory

LANCASTER, CA. - With a season-high-tying 17 hits, the Modesto Nuts secured a series victory with their 11-2 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks on Sunday night at The Hangar.

All eleven runs by the Nuts (52-62; 22-22) offense scored in the first four innings. Jack Larsen doubled home the first run with one out in the first inning. Larsen recorded three hits and two RBIs in the game. Connor Kopach followed and drove home two with a double. Kopach also homered in the game and plated four runs.

In the second, the Nuts launched three home runs as part of a five-run frame. Nick Thurman homered to start the inning. Thurman also had two doubles as part of a three-hit day. Jake Scheiner smacked a two-run homer against JetHawks' (58-54; 24-20) starter Garret Schilling (L, 8-6) in the inning. Schilling lasted just two innings allowing eight runs on ten hits.

Ian McKinney (W, 10-5) heaved six strong innings allowing just two hits and one run on a solo home run to Ryan Vilade. McKinney stranded two walks in the sixth to finish his night before giving way to Matthew Willrodt (S, 2/2). The righty reliever tossed three innings and surrendered just a solo home run while striking out three.
