Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Visalia, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes blew a late lead for a second straight night, as the Visalia Rawhide put up a four-run seventh to down the Quakes by a final score of 8-7 on Sunday night at Recreation Park.

After getting a run to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, Visalia got a three-run triple from Eduardo Diaz, taking the lead for good at 8-5.

Rancho fought back in the form of a Jeren Kendall solo shot, his 13th of the year to make it a one-run game. The Quakes got another in the ninth, as Jeter Downs doubled and scored on Miguel Vargas' third hit of the night, making it 8-7. But with the tying run at first, Donovan Casey banged into a game-ending double-play to end it, giving Breckin Williams his 13th save of the year.

Vargas had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Rancho offense, which outhit Visalia, 11-10.

Downs led off the game with his 18th homer of the year and Tre Todd hit a game-tying homer for Rancho in the second inning, his second of the year.

Austin Drury (0-1) was charged with two runs in the loss, giving Rancho a season-worst, five-game losing streak. Visalia right-hander Jeff Bain (6-8) earned the win for the 'Hide.

Rancho (67-48, 23-21) remains two back of division-leading Lancaster and opens up a three-game series on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field. Leo Crawford (5-4) is set to take on Lucas Gilbreath of the JetHawks on Tuesday at 7:05pm.

On Tuesday, the Quakes will return to LoanMart Field for Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans will get you a FREE Club Seat Ticket to the game. Purchase your tickets at rcquakes.com or by calling (909) 481-5000... Go Quakes!
