Strong Defensive Effort Pushes Go-Go to 119-106 Win over Nets

The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, defeated the Long Island Nets, 119-106.

All five starters for the Go-Go scored in double-figures for the fourth time this season, but the team's defensive efforts helped seal the game. The Go-Go held the Nets to shooting .400 from the field and .250 from the three-point line. Additionally, Wizards assignment player Patrick Baldwin Jr. came up with three blocks and guards Hamidou Diallo and Jules Bernard each brought down double-digit rebounds, with Diallo coming up with four key defensive rebounds in the fourth quarter. On the offensive side of the ball, forward Taylor Funk had his most efficient shooting night of his career, going 6-for-8 from the field, including five made three-pointers, four of which came in the fourth quarter. The Go-Go went on to defeat the Nets, 119-106.

Washington Wizards two-way player Jared Butler led the Go-Go in scoring and assists with 24 points and seven assists. Bernard and Diallo each secured double-doubles with Bernard putting up 20 points and 11 rebounds and Diallo leading the team with 13 rebounds while scoring 17 points. Wizards assignees Baldwin Jr. (18) and Johnny Davis (11) also scored in double figures to round out the starters. Funk scored 17 points off the bench, including a 14-point fourth quarter with five made threes.

Kennedy Chandler led the Nets in scoring with 21 points. Keon Johnson (20), Noah Clowney (15), Kaiser Gates (15), and Jalen Wilson (11) also scored in double-figures. Clowney led the team in rebounds with nine and Terry Roberts dished out a team-leading five assists off the bench.

The Go-Go will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the first time since 2018 in their next matchup on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Tickets for the game are available via Ticketmaster.
