GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Gold (8-7) defeated the College Park Skyhawks (10-6) 125-106. The Gold established dominance early in the game extending their lead by as much as 27 points and held off the Skyhawks to only lead by 5. Despite the Skyhawks impressive shooting from the free throw line making 92.3% compared to 78.9% for the Gold, the Gold played an aggressive game in the paint contributing 40 of the total points.
The power-house of a starting five for the Gold all recorded points in the double digits tonight. Two-way player Colin Gillespie had an exceptional triple-double with 14 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds. Jay Huff also had a remarkable performance with 32 points and 6 rebounds. NBA assignment player Julian Strawther was also a high scorer with 21 points. Other players in the double digits include Jalen Pickett (19 pts), Andrew Funk (12 pts) and Hunter Tyson (11 pts).
Two-way player Seth Lundy was the lead scorer for the Skyhawks with 28 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Rob Baker was just trailing him with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Tyson Etienne performed well under the basket with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Brandon Randolph also recorded points in the double digits with 10 points and 3 rebounds.
