Windsor Spitfires News Release

Ryan Strome had two goals and an assist, as the IceDogs got an early start against the Spits and held on for a 4-3 win in St.Catherines on Saturday night.

Alex Friesen and Freddie Hamilton chipped in a goal and an assist each and Chris Festarini held off a late Windsor barrage, as Niagara (9-9-0-2) topped the Spitfires in their only visit of the season to "The Jack".

Brandon Devlin (1), Nick Czinder (8) and Brady Vail scored for Windsor (10-11-1-1) and Jaroslav Pavelka made 38 saves in his first start as a Spitfire.

Another slow start put the Spits down 2-0 by the time the game was 8:31 old.

Devlin scored on a powerplay blast from the right point to cut the lead to 2-1. But Strome's first of the game, just 36 seconds later, put the home side up two again.

The clubs traded goals in the second period.

Brady Vail cut the lead to 4-3 with 4:17 to play, banging home a Nick Ebert rebound.

The Spits pressed hard for the equalizer with Pavelka on the bench, but fell short of the tying goal.

Back to Windsor tonight and right back at it on Sunday afternoon, as the Soo Greyhounds come to town.
