Gwinnett Stripers News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Gwinnett Stripers (26-29) looked well on their way to a four-game winning streak on Friday night, but a 6-0 lead wasn't enough to put away the Norfolk Tides (29-26), who surged back for a 7-6 win at Harbor Park. Gwinnett leads the series 3-1.

Decisive Plays: The Stripers built the 6-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run by Eli White (2) in the first inning and a three-run double by Luke Williams in the third. Gwinnett chased International League ERA leader Cade Povich after just 3.0 innings, but never scored again. Norfolk got a two-run double from Jackson Holliday off Darius Vines to cut the lead to 6-2 in the third, then produced a five-run fourth to take the lead. Connor Norby's three-run triple off Ben Bowden (L, 1-1) put the Tides up 7-6.

Key Contributors: Williams (1-for-5, double, 3 RBIs) and White (1-for-2, homer, 2 RBIs) combined to drive in five of Gwinnett's six runs. Zach Logue logged 3.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts to end the game. For Norfolk, Holliday (2-for-3, double, 2 RBIs) and Norby (1-for-4, triple, 3 RBIs) combined to tally five RBIs.

Noteworthy: After going homerless over his first 27 games this season, White has now homered in back-to-back contests for the Stripers. He has tallied a hit in 23 of 29 games with Gwinnett this season. Williams has six RBIs on three extra-base hits over his last two games. Logue finished May with a 1.95 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and .170 BAA in six games (3 starts).

Next Game (Saturday, June 1): Gwinnett at Norfolk, 6:35 p.m. ET at Harbor Park. Broadcast: 6:20 p.m. ET on MyCountry993.com. RHP Bryce Elder (2-1, 5.23 ERA) starts for the Stripers opposite RHP Justin Armbruester (1-3, 9.32 ERA) for the Tides.

Next Home Game (Tuesday, June 11): Gwinnett vs. Nashville, 7:05 p.m. ET at Coolray Field. Broadcast: 6:50 p.m. ET on MyCountry993.com and Bally Live. It will be another Coolray T-Shirt Tuesday at Coolray Field, as the first 500 fans can collect a "Xolos de Gwinnett" Shirsey featuring reigning National League MVP Ronald Acuña Jr.
