Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
LETHBRIDGE, AB - The National Hockey League's Central Scouting Service released their final rankings today ahead of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Zack Stringer was listed 190th among North American skaters.
Stringer, 18, was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round (8th overall) in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6'1, 165-pound forward appeared in 23 regular season games in 2020-2021 totaling 14 points (5g-9a) along with 10 penalty minutes. The Lethbridge, AB product has skated in 79 career games with the 'Canes collecting 52 points (17g-35a) along with 34 penalty minutes. He has also dressed in six WHL post-season games adding three points.
Stringer was named the 2019-2020 Carl Trentini Memorial Award as the Hurricanes Rookie of the Year. He was also the recipient of the 2020-2021 Herman Elfring Community Relations Award after agreeing to donate five-dollars for every goal he scored to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Hurricanes have had a player drafted in the NHL draft in four straight years and six of the last seven drafts, including Alex Cotton who was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in 2020.
A total of 48 WHL skaters and nine goaltenders were listed on the NHL Central Scouting final ranking. The 2021 NHL Entry Draft is scheduled for July 23-24.
