Portland Beavers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers play host to DoveLewis Bark in the Park, the club's annual Strike-Out-Breast-Cancer Day and an appearance from Paul Revere and the Raiders as well as the Spitball Gang during an event-filled, eight-game homestand, starting Tuesday at PGE Park.
The Beavers open an exciting weekend Friday with an appearance from the Spitball Gang and a special performance of the national anthem by musical group Paul Revere and the Raiders, who produced the 1960s hits "Kicks," "Just Like Me" and "Good Thing." The four characters from the Spitball gang - Spitball, Louie, Slugger and Catch - are sure to entertain with their crazy antics and hilarious dance routines.
On Saturday, the Beavers invite fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark for DoveLewis Bark in the Park as they open a four-game set with the Sacramento River Cats. The Beavers will attempt to set a new world record for the most dog marriages at one time following the game. The first 1,903 fans receive a "bobbledog" giveaway inspired by a local canine, courtesy of DoveLewis.
The Beavers round out the weekend with the club's annual "Strike-Out-Breast-Cancer" event, presented by Health Net of Oregon on Sunday. Among the several activities, the Beavers will wear one-of-a-kind, pink and blue jerseys that will be auctioned off through a silent auction before and during the game to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Each winning bidder will be presented their player's autographed, game-worn jersey after the game.
Two of the eight games on the homestand will be televised live on FSN, including Wednesday's contest against the Las Vegas 51s and on Monday, Aug. 3, against Sacramento.
