Game Day Preview:
Bossier City, LA (HockeyZone) - The Mississippi River Kings (5-4-0) will try to keep their hot streak going tonight and try to make it four in a row, as they play the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (7-2-0) in a Northeast Division battle at the Century Tel Center in Bossier City Wednesday night.
The Kings have been excellent since knocking off the Colorado Eagles 6-2, November 1, at the Desoto Civic Centre in Southhaven MS. The Kings have scored 17 goals in three games, while only allowing 6 goals against.
Louis Dumont leads Mississippi with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) this season. Brad Bonello is also hot for the Kings, he has 8 points in five games ( 5 goals,3 assists) and is the (Oakley CHL Player of the Week). Bobby Chaumont has had 5 points in his last three games (3 goals , 2 assists). Matt Summers is fitting in nicely since coming over in a trade from Laredo on November 1st. He has 4 points ( 1 goal, 3 assists).
On defense, the Kings are getting stronger every game out. Netminder Kevin Beech (Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week) has a goals against of 2.73.
With Margeson (2 goals, 3 assists), Alcombrack ( 2 goals, two assists) Derek Landmesser(3 assists), Joe Markusen ( 1goal 3 assists), and Andrew Lackner (1 assist), the RiverKings have if not the best, one of the top blue lines in the league and have shown that in the last three games.
The Mudbugs most recent setback came Sunday in Texas as they were edged by the Brahamas 3-2. Tonight's matchup marks the third of twelve meetings between the Kings and Bugs. Bossier has won the first two, by the same scores of 6-2 over the Kings.
For the Bugs, scoring has not been a problem. Travis Clayton has 12 points ( 6 goals,6 assists). Kevin Cooper, 12 points ( 5goals,7 assists). Tyrel Lucas 12 points, (5 goals,7 assists). Between the pipes Ryan Mior has become the number one goalie for the Mudbugs since the injury to starting netminder Ken Carroll, who was put on goaltender IR on October 25th. Mior has a goals against average of 2.22.
Following the Wednesday night game in Bossier-Shreveport, the Kings will return home to play the Oklahoma City Blazers in a doubleheader at the DeSoto Civic Center on Friday, November 14th, and again Saturday, November 15th. Game time both nights will be 7:05 PM. Mississippi defeated Oklahoma City 3-2 in a shootout at the Ford Center in the only previous matchup between the teams on Friday, October 24th.
Wednesday's game at Bossier-Shreveport can be heard on Sports 56, WHBQ (560-AM), with the voice of the RiverKings Bob Bakken. It will also, be broadcast on "CHL-TV" with a game time of 7:05 p.m..
