Late Goal Stops RiverKings Win Streak

(Bossier City, LA) -- J.J Martin's power play goal with 35 seconds remaining in regulation gave Bossier-Shreveport a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the MississippiRiverKings on Wednesday, November 12th in Bossier City, Louisiana. The result ended the RiverKings' three game winning streak and evened their seasonrecord a 5-5-0.

Bossier-Shreveport scored three times in the first period for a 3-1, aided by twopower play goals. The only Mississippi red-lighter came off the stick of Jeff Nelson, whose second goal of the season was also his first power play goal at 3:30 of the first frame, giving the RiverKings a 1-0 lead.

However, power play goals from Neil Clark and Kevin Cooper, added by a full strength tally from Joe Blaznek, gave the Mudbugs a 3-1 lead after twenty minutes of action.

The RiverKings fought back with a pair of goals in the second period, taking advantage of special teams play. Garrett Larson scored a power play goal at 9:16 to get Mississippi wthin one at 3-2, Bossier.

Louis Dumont then tied the game at 15:56 with his league-leading third shorthanded goal of the year, stealing the puck in the offensive zone and putting the shot between the pads of Bossier goaltender John Horrell for his sixth goal of the year, which came unassisted.

Bossier-Shreveport won the game on Martin'a late power play goal.

Coming up, the RiverKings host Oklahoma City for a pair of games this Friday and Saturday nights at 7:05 PM each night. Friday night is also the Battle of the Banks for the local Food Bank, and Saturday is the annual toy drive and Teddy Bear Toss for Toys for Tots.
