Seattle Storm News Release
2005 WNBA Playoffs First Round Series - Seattle (2) vs. Houston (3)
The Storm and Comets will square off in the postseason for the first time ever this week in the First Round of the 2005 WNBA Playoffs. The two teams split their four-game season series this summer with neither squad able to win on the road. The Comets own a 14-7 edge in the all-time series, but the teams have been even at six games apiece since the start of the 2003 season. Seattle has won just once in 11 tries in Houston, but will be at home should the series come down to a deciding Game 3.
SUE BIRD NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Storm guard Sue Bird was named WNBA Player of the Week for her role in leading the Storm to victories in their final three regular season games. The 5-9 point guard averaged 13.7 points and 6.3 assists during the week and matched her season high with 20 points in the Storm's season finale against Phoenix on Saturday. Averaging 5.9 assists per game on the season, Bird finished the year as the WNBA's assist leader for the first time in her career.
