UPCOMING OPPONENTS
Seattle and Houston split a pair of meetings earlier this year, and have split the season series in each of the past two years. The teams will meet twice this week, with playoff positioning on the line. The Storm enter the week third in the Western Conference, just a half-game behind the Comets for the second seed and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Comets hold a 13-6 edge in the all-time series.
The Storm have fallen to the Lynx twice this season, including an 81-86 overtime loss at KeyArena on June 15, but can even the season series with wins in Minnesota on Friday and on Aug. 18 at KeyArena. Seattle has dropped three in a row overall to the Lynx, with the average margin of defeat just 3.7 points. The Storm have managed just one win in their last eight trips to Target Center and trail 7-11 in the all-time series.
STORM IN THE COMMUNITY
The Sonics and Storm T.E.A.M. Foundation will unveil a new Reading and Learning Center at the Ballard Boys & Girls Club today, Aug. 8, from 5-6 p.m. Storm players Sue Bird, Simone Edwards, Alicia Thompson and Francesca Zara, along with Storm Assistant Coach Jenny Boucek, will be on hand to discuss with the children the importance of reading.
The T.E.A.M. Foundation will also be awarding Inspirational Scholar Athlete Awards at the Storm's Aug. 9 game vs. Houston at 7 p.m. at KeyArena. The awards will honor four student-athletes that have overcome challenging circumstances to achieve their goals. Each winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship for use towards a college education.

The Storm's next home game at KeyArena is Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. vs. the Houston Comets. Single-game tickets for Storm games can be purchased through TicketMaster by logging on to storm.wnba.com or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Storm tickets are also available at the Sonics & Storm Team Shop located at 312 First Ave. N. on KeyArena's West Plaza.
