Storm Travels to Lincoln for Showdown with Stars

LINCOLN, NE. - The Tri-City Storm travels to the Ice Box in Lincoln tonight for a showdown with the Lincoln Stars. Tonight's matchup will be the first of four straight games between the Storm and Stars. The battle will be the final game of the weekend for each team. Puck drop for the rivalry matchup is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.

Tri-City (9-10-0-2) returns to action tonight following last night's thrilling home game against the Omaha Lancers. The Storm fell behind by three goals through the opening forty minutes of the matchup before erasing the 3-0 deficit in the 3rd period. Tri-City ultimately fell in a shootout to open play this weekend. Daimon Gardner, Sebastian Törnqvist, and Dane Dowiak each netted a goal for the Storm in last night's game. Tri-City set a new season high for most shots on goal during a single game with 49 in last night's contest. The Storm's single-game season high for most shots on net during the 2021-2022 season was 46 on March 5th, 2022, in the team's 8-0 home victory over the Lincoln Stars at the Viaero Center. Scoring leaders entering tonight's road game for the Storm include Evan Werner (13), Kieran Cebrian (8), Sebastian Törnqvist (6), Graham Gamache (5), and Tanner Adams (5). Adams is currently skating for Team USA at the 2022 World Junior A Challenge in Cornwall, Ontario. Karlis Mezsargs will also miss the next few games as he represents Latvia in the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton, New Brunswick. Tri-City will battle Lincoln in back-to-back games next weekend prior to beginning the holiday break. The second game of the weekend series will be hosted by the Storm at the Viaero Center on Saturday, December 17th. The game will serve as the organization's annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.

Lincoln (14-7-0-0) completed a comeback effort in last night's 3-2 road victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. Lincoln scored two unanswered goals in the third period to seal the win. Brennan Ali, Jack Larrigan, and Mason Marcellus each scored for the Stars in the win. Lucas Massie stopped 34 of the Stampede's 36 shots on goal to record the win in net for Lincoln. Scoring leaders for the Stars entering tonight's home game against the Storm include Tanner Ludtke (11), Keaton Peters (10), Mason Marcellus (6), Klavs Veinbergs (6), and Doug Grimes (6). The Stars have won three of four games played against the Storm so far in this year's thirteen-game season series. The Stars have posted an 8-2-0-0 record on home ice this season. Lincoln previously posted a 6-3 win over Tri-City at the Ice Box on October 14th, and a 5-3 win over Tri-City at the Ice Box on November 23rd. The Stars will host the Storm again next weekend on Friday night, before traveling to Kearney to face off against the Storm at the Viaero Center on Saturday.
